slight drop in pharmacy col-
enrollment reflects a national
d, 'Dean Tom D. Rowe of the
'macy college explained re-

(

ently.
There are approximately 12 less
niversity students in pharmacy
hs year, he noted, in an enroll-
ent of 157.
Nationally, pharmacy , schools
rid colleges east of the Mississippi
st enrollment while those west
ained slightly, he said.

However, Rowe noted that com-
parison figures are not entirely ac-
curate as some pharmacy schools
count students in the last three
years in pharmacy with the first
two years as pre-pharmacy
studies.
University figures account for
students in all five years.
Rowe cited several possible rea-
sons for the decline. Pharmacy,
he said, was reflecting a general
decrease in applications in the
health sciences, including medi-
cine.
The small size of the last year's
high school senior class early in
World War II may also have held
down freshman enrollment.
Rowe indicated that the conver-
tion from a four to a five-year
program two years ago has cut
enrollment. He said it is too soon
to tell.
Group Interviews
Grant Applicants
Over 100 college students from
throughout Michigan are being in-
terviewed here by the Woodrow
Wilson Fellowship regional selec-
tion committee. The University
has qualified 44 students which is
more students than any other
school in the Michigan-Ohio re-
gion.
