A Berkshire Typewriter Paper -- - EATON PAPER CORPORATION PITTSFIELD, MASS. FIVE PER CENT RAISE: Graf Releases Figures About Honors Students For Direct Classified Ad Service, Phone NO 2-4786 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, and Saturday 9:30 'tilI 11:30 A.M. Prof. Otto Graf of the German department, director of the liter- ary college honors program, has announced that this semester 323 freshmen were accepted into non- ors. This represents approximately 15 per cent of the total freshman class of 1,950, a five per cent in- crease over the estimated total last year. Privilege by Invitationy Prof. Graf said students are ad- mitted to the program only at the invitation of the University, and are chosen on the basis of schol- astic aptitude and achievement scores. During the freshman and soph- omore years, students participate in the general honors program, which entitles them to certain aca- demic privileges including "en- riched courses," classes which cov- er the same subjects as do other courses, but in greater detail. Cuts Lines Other honors offerings cut across departmental lines. In the final two years, honors students may select majors in de- partments which provide intensive courses leading to the bachelor's degree. During the four years of under- graduate work, honors students re- ceive special counseling and guid- ance from a permanent honors council staff. There is also currently a move- ment to provide for a freshman member of the honors steering committee, a group of students currently composed of four seniors, three juniors and two sophomores. PERSONAL NO PAJAMAS for Pussycat tonight; the moon is gone in a cloud tonight. And the lion fell tonight, and the kitten sleeps tonight, so the light was a darkness tonight. The pussycat called tonight, but the light was a darkness tonight. And again it returned three times, as it had; and again it called to the light, as it had. But again the darkness answered, as it had. So it turned away tonight to merrily- go-round tonight, but the merrily- go-round is a merely-go-round to- night. Pussycat, go round tonight, go merely- go-merrily go round tonight. The moon is gone in a cloud tonight; there'll be no pajamas for the cat tonight.
