" s FADE SEVEN Blues Rout Whites in Final Scrimmage :; ib 0 pI' STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE By JIM BERGER The Michigan football team un- covered two prominent weaknesses in yesterday's intrasquad scrim- mage at the Stadium. Head Coach Bump Elliott was 'disappointed" with the Wolverines passing attack, and the fullback' position is uncertain as Mel An- thony aggravated an ankle in- jured that will keep him out of action indefinitely. The Blue squad comprised of Michigan's first and second teams opposed the rest of the team and scored a 42-0 victory. Halfback Dave Raimey and quarterback Dave Glinka were key factors inj the Blue's rout. of his own touchdown. Another two-point conversion a t t e m p t failed when a Glinka pass was broken up. Dodd Tallies First The Blues scored one in each of the first two quarters and twice in each of the last two periods. The Blues tallied their first midway in the first period when Dodd carried over from the two. Raimey set this score up with two runs for 22 and 27 yds. Glinka threw a 9-yd. pass to Chapman for the second tally. The pass was originally intended for end Bob Brown who bobbled the ball which Chapman picked up in the end zone. A sustained drive at the begin- ning of the third period made the score 21-0. The Blues with Glinka in control covered 69 yds. in 13 plays before Dodd pushed it over from the 1. Timberlake steered the team to its fourth tally. The sophomore from Franklin, Ohio, led the team from their own 47 to pay dirt in eight plays. An 11-yd. pass to sophomore end Jim Conley was the leading play in this drive which culminated with Hood's touchdown. Took to Air Glinka took to the air in the last period, completing three straight passes and moving the ball from his own 32-yd. line to the White's 21. Raimey c a r r i e d around left end for a 12-yd. touch- down run. Raimey scored the last Blue TD on a three-yd. plunge. Elliott's general comment after the game was that he was pleased with the way the boys were hit-, ting and he said that "the team played a lot tighter this week than last week." As for the passing attac, El- liott expressed a general feeling of disappointment. Quarterback Bob Chandler whose forte has al- ways been his throwing arm, did not live up to pre-season expecta- tions., As director of the Whites, Chandler completed only two 12 onths... $2O MEL ANTHONY ... reinjures ankle Expressed Concernt Elliott expressed concern over Anthony who was slated to be the# Wolverines starting fullback. "MelI injured his ankle last week but it didn't seem too serious, but he' apparently reinjured it today andt I don't think he'll be able to go against Nebraska."i Elliott praised Bill Dodd, An- thony's replacement, stating thatf "he was coming along good and showing improvement." The Mich- igan mentor was quite sure that Dodd will start next week. Raimey scored two touchdowns himself and helped set up two others. The senior from Dayton picked up 179 yds. in 24 carries. Glinka hit six for nine passes for 68 yds. and a touchdown. The vet- eran signal caller was the only bright spot in a dismal aerial aft- ernoon. Dodd scored twice on short runs while halfbacks Ed Hood and Har- vey Chapman tallied the other Blue touchdowns. Sophomore, q u a r t e r b a c k Bob Timberlake kicked four successful conversions in as many attempts. Hood made a successful two-point conversion i passes in nine attempts for 16 yds. One of his passes was inter- cepted. Toward the end of the scrimmage, Chandler donned a Blue jersey but only completed one pass for 14 yds. Two for Five Timberlake completed two of five passes for seven yds. and Help Wanted Neither experience nor ability is needed to become a member of The Michigan Daily sports staff. "Naturally the White pass de- fense was very good since they have been practicing together and know, all the patterns," said El- liott. "I certainly hope the oppo- sition won't know them as well." Elliott was naturally pleased with Raimey who seemed to run as well as ever. "I only wish we had a couple more like him," said Elliott with a smile. A minor injury occurred yes- Keating in the first play from terday to first string tackle Tom scrimmage. According to Elliott Keating put a tooth through his lip and didn't appear for the dura tion of the game. Starting Backfield Elliott gave a tentative starting backfield for next week which had Glinka at quarterback, Dodd at fullback, and Raimey and Chap- man at halfbacks. He also said that Bill Muir would probably be Michigan's starting center. Quarterback Frosty Evashevskli did not dress for yesterday's scrim- mage. According to Elliott, Eva- shevski is still bothered with a back injury. Yesterday's punting was done by Joe O'Donnell for the Blue squad and Tom Prichard for the Whites. Timberlake did all the place kicking for the Blues, in- cluding two unsuccessful field goal attempts. Timberlake's first field goal at- tempt was from the nine-yd. line and it was wide of the mark.
