FROM THE
NOR THSIDE
PRESS
The Nort hside Presbyterian
Church meets at 10:45 a.m.
Sundays at the Phi Chi Medical
Fraternity, 2250 Fuller Rd.
Sometimes you hear some-
one say, "I'm not a good
Christian," or, "I don't know
any good Christians." Us-
ually, people who make
statements like these are
really confessing that they-
and everyone they know-
are either governed by self-
interest, or are unable to
control their passions at
times when prudence would
require it. They also appar-
ently attribute . o m p l e t e
selflessness and self-control
to Christ, or to the require-
ments of Christian morality.
What would it be like to
live in a world peopled by
colorless, "good" Christians?
But paradoxically, any dis-
tinction between good and
bad Christians-in terms of
the above popular assump-
tions-ignores the Christian
Gospel. The message of the
Gospel - cutting through a
lot of theological jazz - is
that God accepts people the
way they are: good Chris-
tians (if any can be found),
bad Christians, and ordinary
people regardless of race,
^olor, or creed-but especial-
ly without regard to moral
behavior.
