Prof. Waldo E. Sweet of the
classical studies department pre-
sented lectures at the language
meeting of the Berrien County In-
Service Program at Niles and the
Colorado Congress of Foreign
Language Teachers at Greeley.
The subject of both talks was
programmed instruction, illustrat-
ed by a film strip Prof. Sweet has
just constructed. Swet has been
developing new teaching methods
in Latin for several years, and is
recognized as a pioneer in the
field. In 1957 he published the
text, "Latin: a Structural Ap-
proach," which revolutionized the
orthodox methods of teaching for-
ign languages and stimulated
widespread discussion here and
abroad.

gram of the American Society for

Prof. Norman R. F. Maler of
the psychology department is the
author of an extensive revision,
published this month, of his basic
college text "Psychology in Indus-
try."
A Leading book in the field since
its initial publication nearly two
decades ago, "Psychology in In-
dustry" has been widely used in
college and universities here and
abroad, where it has been trans-
lated into Spanish and Serbo-
Croatian. An Italian version of the
new edition is now in preparation.
