The ousted chancellor's report
warned that the student rebellion,
was continuing and "will spread
by infection and become endemic
unless countered by strong, stead-
fast resistance." He charged that
rules regarding political activity
on the campus are not being en-
forced.
As for the possibility he may be
asked to return as chancellor,
Strong reportedly does not believe
he will be summoned to do so,
but in any case would decline
unless freed from "frustrating
conditions."

An ad hoc committee of Ann
Arbor residents and University
students has been organized to
protest alleged American- business
support of apartheid in South Af-
rica, committee member Sue Or-
rin, '65, said yesterday.,
The committee, directed by Sam
Friedman, Grad, a member of
Voice political party, is propos-
ing that the University partici-
pate with it in a nationwide se-
ries of demonstrations to protest
financial support to South Africa.
The demonstrations will focus
on two areas of American eco-
nomic involvement. Their primary
target is a group of banks which
lent $85 million in 1961 to South
Africa and have since establish-
ed a revolving fund loan to the
South African government.

Chancellor Edward Strong could
lead to "mass resignations" by
the faculty.
According to Berkeley spokes-
man, only a handful of faculty
members so far have announced
they are leaving the campus. One
of them is Dr. Henry Rosovsky, a
history and economics professor,
who is going to Harvard. Rosov-
sky said he was "optimistic over
the future of Berkeley." He added,
"It is my firm belief there will be
no faculty exodus."
