The Rose Bowl trip was considered one of the most memorable successes in the band's history. After marching in the five-and-a-half mile, three hour Parade of Roses, in which they held third position, the marchers put on a half-time and pre-game show over national televi-sion. The act, only about two minutes long, required many hours of prac- tice. It was not, however, the band's most difficult selection.
