The University's 122nd Commencement exer-
cises were held Saturday in Yost Fieldhouse.
Threatening weather kept them from the sta-
dium, where they are usually held, for the first
time in ten years. More than 4,500 bachelors,
masters and doctoral degrees were awarded in
the morning ceremonies. John Kenneth Gal-
braith, Harvard economics professor and for-
mer ambassador to India, delivered the main
address, following remarks by University Pres-
ident Harlan Hatcher. Galbraith, who spoke
on "The Role of the University in Foreign
Policy," was then awarded an honorary Doctor
of Laws degree. Five other persons were also
given honorary degrees. Following the com-
mencement exercises, maniy proud and happy
parents and graduates adjourned to central
