FOUR THE MICHIGAN DAILY SATURDAY, AUGUST Matches Pit Graebner, Eton vs. Top Mexicans For Direct Classified Ad Service, 'hone 704-0557 Monday through Friday, 12 Noon to 2 P.M. I 'I CLEVELAND-A pair of 6-foot- 2 power hitters, Dennis Ralston and Clark Graebner, will play singles for the United States to- day against Rafael Osuna and Joaquin Loyo-Mayo of Mexico in the American Zone Davis Cup tennis final. Drawings made yesterday send Graebner against 5-foot-6 Loyo- Mayo in the opener of the three- day competition. The second match Saturday has Ralston and Osuna, both veterans of Davis Cup play, renewing a long rivalry in which Ralston has held the upper hand. A doubles match, for which the two captains have not yet named their teams, is scheduled for Sun- day. On Monday two more sin- gles matches complete the play, with Ralston opposing Loyo-Mayo in the first match and Osuna vs. Graebner in the finale. Each match counts one point; matches are best-of-five sets; and the first team to accumulate three points wraps up the right to meet Brazil in October in an interzone final. One more round of Davis Cup play follows to determine the DAILY OFFICIAL BULLETIN challenger that will invade Aus- tralia. At 24, Ralston is three years younger than the 5-foot-10 Osuna and has been playing consider- ably more tennis this year. The Bakersfield, Calif., player holds the No. 1 U.S. ranking, and he beat Osuna 6-0, 6-2, 6-4 in the American Zone final last year when the U.S. team won 4-1. Graebner, 22, from Beachwood, Ohio, has played in doubles of Davis competition, but never be- fore in singles. Loyo-Mayo, on Mexico's squad two years, also will be playing his first Davis Cup singles match. Last month in a tournament in Philadelphia, Graebner defeated the 20-year-old Mexican, a quick left-hander whose nickname is Little Frog. That score was 6-3, 6-4.
