By The Associated Press DETROIT-Tommy Agee's three run double in the sixth inning and a pair of key hits by Tom McCraw lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 5-0 victory over the De- troit Tigers last night. John Buzhardt scattered seven hits and recorded his fifth vic- tory against six losses while Earl Wilson took the defeat, his ninth in 18 decisions. Four of Buz- hardt's victories have been shut- outs. Tom McCraw, who had three hits for the Sox, tripled in the second inning and scored on Agee's fly to left. Don Buford walked in the fourth, stole second for his 27th theft of the season and came across on McCraw's two-out dou- ble. In the sixth, Wilson walked Wayne Causey and Buford with one out. The runners moved up when McCraw was purposely walk- ed, filling the bases. Agee then drilled the first pitch off the left field wall driving in all three runners. Birds Smash Indians BALTIMORE-Three home runs, including Frank Robinson's 30th of the season, lifted the Baltimore Orioles to a 7-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians last night. Dave McNally, who won his 10tH game of the season, opened the seventh with his third straight single. After Boog Powell walked, Robinson rocked reliever Dick Radatz for a three-run homer. Court Rules in Braves' Favor Rookie Larry Haney and veteran Luis Aparicio also homered for the Orioles. Haney, playing his first major league game after being recalled from Rochester to bolster Balti- more's injury-riddled catching staff, hit a two-run homer of f loser John O'Donoghue in the fifth to break a 1-1 tie. Aparicio hit his sixth homer opening the game and Del Cran- dall socked his fourth as the lead- off batter for Cleveland in the third. McNally pitched a six-hitter, striking out eight. * * * Nats Dump Angels WASHINGTON-Fred Valentine continued his blistering pace against California pitching last night with a grand slam homer and run-scoring double in Wash- ington's 7-5 victory over the An- gels. The Senators outfielder now has 25 hits in 48 times at bat and has knocked in 20 runs against the Angels this season. He unloaded his 10th homer off rookie Clyde Wright in the third inning after Ed Brinkman and Ken McMullen beat out bunts and Bob Saverine was safe on a field- er's choice. In the sixth, his bloop double scored Ken McMullen, who had singled. Barry Moore, who pitched a three-hitter against Kansas City last Saturday in his first major league start, left with a 7-3 lead after six innings. The temperature was 88 degrees. The Senators scored a pair in the first on a triple by Brinkman, who stroked four hits, Saverine's single and McMullen's double. The victory gave Pittsburgh the league lead by two percentage points over the Giants. Donn Clendenon, who had hom- ered earlier, opened the Pirate ninth with a bunt single and continuedto second when Dav- enport threw wildly past first. Then Jim Pagliaroni sacrificed and was safe when Davenport bobbled the ball. Mazeroski followed with his sin- gle to drive in the winning run. The Giants had tied it 3-3, with two runsinthe fifth after Gene Alley had put the Pirates ahead, 3-1, against starter Bob Bolin with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth after Matty Alou hit a two-out double play. Clendenon had brought the Pi- rates their first run with a bases empty homer in the second, his 17th of the season. Cards Nip Braves ATLANTA-Pitcher Ray Wash- burn hammered a two-run homer and a double and won his fifth straight game as St. Louis ripped Atlanta, 9-7 last night. It was the ninth victory for the Cardinals in 10 games. Washburn's homer was followed by Curt Flood's bases-empty shot in a five-run Cardinal fourth as St. Louis exploded for nine extra base hits. Orlando Cepeda ripped two doubles and a single and Charliej Smith drove in three runs with a triple, a sacrifice fly and an in- field out. Home runs by Felipe Alou and Mack Jones helped the Braves cut St. Louis' early lead and At- lanta finally knocked Washburn out in the seventh. Hal Woode- schick and Nelson Briles finished up. The defeat spoiled a comeback bid for Joey Jay, Atlanta right- hander who has been troubled with an arm ailment and was making his first start in 20 days. The loss ran his record to 6-5. Washburn's mark now is 9-4. MICHIGAN DAILY CLASSIFIED ADVERTISING RATES LINES 2 3 4 I DAY 3 DAYS 5 DAYS .70 .85 1.00 1.95 2.40 2.85 3.00 3.75 4.35 Figure 5 average words to a line.
