The American League-leading Orioles hit two homers, with the combined total of seven setting a single-game record for Memorial Stadium. There were also three doubles by each team. Colavito hit his 21st homer in the opening inning off loser Steve Barber following a double by Wag- ner and socked a solo homer off Moe Drabowsky in the seventh. Wagner, Whitfield Homer Wagner and Fred Whitfield homered off John Miller, who re- lieved Barber in the second after the Oriole starter was bothered by recurring elbow trouble. Hart hit his 22nd homer of the year after Pirate starter Steve Blass walked Willie Mays and. Willie McCovey on eight pitches with two out in the first inning.1 The Pirates never caught up.
