dence halls "B' basketball.
In another "B" game Winchell
stalled a last minute scoring burst
by Kelsey and downed them, 30-
26.
In the other five games last
night, all "B" games, Adams edged
Allen Rumsey, 30-28, Taylor
squeeked by with a 21-20 victory
over Van Tyne, Wenley downed
Cooley, 38-15, and Lloyd and Hay-
den sunk their opponents, Ander-
son and Strauss, respectively, 34-
29, and 46-41.
Most of the teams played good
close man to man defense, by the
low scores.

BLOOMINGTON MP)--Indiana's
varsity swimmers defeated Pur-
due 63-39 yesterday, then rooted
freshman Tom Stock to the first
sub-two-minute performance ever
recorded in the 200-yard' back-
stroke.
The 18-year-old Stock, from
Bloomington, Ill., flailed the dis-
tance in 1:59.9.

Mattson, the promising sophomore
outstroked Wolf and Gaxiola in
the backstroke.
Clark trailed in the breastroke
race until the 175 yard mark. Den-
nis Ruppart of Michigan State
barely nosed out Michigan's Dick
Nelson for second place. Nelson
led the pack at 100 yards and,
finished in 2:21.3 to Ruppart's
2:21.2.
Nelson, a sophomore swimming
in varsity competition for the first
time, is the American record
holder for the 100-yd. breaststroke.
Swimming that distance in the
medley relay, he made up 15 feet
on his opponent.
This Friday brings the long-
awaited showdown. for Big Ten
swimming supremacy between In-
diana and the Wolverines. Last
year, Indiana won the dual meet
between the two teams but Michi-
gan won the ,Big Ten champion-
ship and finished second to South-
ern California in the NCAA
championships while the Hoosiers
finished third.
