THE MICHIGAN DAILY President Meets Students OPEN'. HOUSE-University President and Mrs. Hatcher opened their home yesterday to University students. Those who attended not only had the opportunity to meet personally President Hatch- er, but also heard the Friars. The Friars are a small group within the Michigan Men's Glee Club noted for its repertoire of novelty songs. The Hatcher teas, sponsored by the Michigan Union, are held six times a year. Mildred Webber of the Bureau of Appointments yesterday denied rumors that peace corps applica- tions are available at the Univer- sity. The notice that appeared in the Daily Official Bulletin Tuesday was placed by the Bureau on the basis of misinformation, she said. Applications will probably not be available locally for about two weeks. In Washington, peace corps of- ficials said 15,000 letters had been received, including 6,000 that ar- rived before President John F. Kennedy's formal announcement of the project last week. The corps' public information officer, Edwin Bayley, Tuesday denied a charge by Rep. William S. Broomfield (R-Mich) that ap- plicants were required to get poli- tical elearapee from local Demo- cratic circles. "There will cer-. tainly be no political test applied to any young persons who want to work in the corps," he said.
