' THE MICHIGAN DAILY THURSDAY, 31AY 16, 190G3 Linksters Share Golf Spotlight As Favorites with Big Ten Trio' rI ........................... I sixth for conference medalist hon-. ors last year with a 298 total while teammate Comstock wasttied for tenth at 301. Fourth Place Michigan's only encounter with Indiana this season was in a quad- rangular meet at Ohio State three weeks ago. The Hoosiers were very unimpressive in that outing, fin- ishing fourth in the field, 15 shots behind Purdue's winning score of 788. Both White and Comstock had their troubles over the windy Ohio State Scarlet course. "I can't be- lieve White and Comstock are that bad," Katzenmeyer emphasized. "I know they'll be on their games at Madison, and that means trouble for us." Favored Again Purdue, which finished second in the conference meet last year; only five shots behind, is rated one of the favorites again this sea- son. Paced by Bob O'Block's 155 to- tal, the Boilermakers captured the medalist tournament at Columbus by one stroke over Michigan. O'Block finished in a second place tie with Ohio State's Jim Brown as Michigan's captain Chuck New- ton took medalist honors at 153. Katzenmeyer feels Purdue has a complement of good golfers who are capable of taking the title also. Wrestlers There will be an important meeting of all wrestlers in the wrestling room of the Intra- mural Sports Bldg. today at 4 p.m. "From what I have seen of them, they're a bunch of scramblers. Their swings may not look im- pressive, but you have tokgive them credit for the way they score," Katzenmeyer observed. Minnesota, last year's fourth place finisher, holds a 3-2 confer- ence mark this year and cannot be counted out of the running. How- ever, the Gophers are basically composed of inexperienced sopho- mores. Captain Les Peterson and sophomore Dave Gumlia are re- garded by their coach as potential Big Ten winners.
