Although Iowa's leading scorer, Jimmie Rodgers, was held to two points and no field goals, and hot shot Andy Hankins was almost as inactive, the Wolverines had their hands full with Roach, who was almost unstoppable from the floor. It was only when Roach wasn't shooting that the Hawkeyes last the lead. Double Trouble Centers Jerry Messick and Doug Mehlaus gave Buntin some de- fensive troubles for awhile, until the 6'7" star began to lean on them a little.
