A l BOOK SALE TODA Y NMSC Studies Characteristics Of Graduates A recent study by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation shows that the ratio of under- graduate input to Ph.D. output of a university can be predicted from the major field of study, the sex, and the intelligence level of the students involved. The results indicate that the differences in the number of doc- toral candidates in various uni- versities depends upon the char- acteristics of the students rather than the environment of the cam- pus. Male students who are ma- joring in the natural sciences are the most likely to seek advanced degrees. The eastern men's colleges show students completing the doctoral a marked underproductivity of program. One suggestion was made that these men are more in demand in the various businesses after they have received their bachelor's degree than graduates from other schools. To View Program In Bio-Engineering Prof. Horace W. Davenport, chairman of the physiology de- partment, and Prof. Glenn V. Ed- monson, Associate Dean of the engineering college, will discuss the 'new bio-engineering program set for next fall in a seminar at 4:00 p.m. today in the Multi- Purpose Rm. of the Undergraduate Library.
