The trend is towards a general
social work theory which drops
emphasis on case work or group
work and re-emphasizes social
work, Prof. Lebeaux said.
Dean Aldridge commented that
social work skills are ultimately
taught and learned through prac-
tice.
The two year program should
lead to competence in social work
through one area rather than the
present case work-group work

cial situation of the schools. The
United States' student-teacher ra-

tion in 1956 was 26 to 1; the Soviet
Union's was 17 to 1.
The .Russians allotted 7.4 per
cent of their total income for edu-
cation while the United States
spent about 1.5 to 2 per cent. Even
though the total Russian income
is less than the United States,
the stress is still significant.
