Call Kim, 769-5651. 19F16 OF THE FIFTH Jim Forrester And the Maroon pound the turf again CHICAGO-The board of trustees agreed to a return of varsity football at the University of Chicago after a lapse of 30 years, Now this might not strike too many people as interesting and they are probably right. The Maroon are not exactly storm- ing back onto the grid scene. Next fall's eleven will be nothing more than a glorified club playing a tiny time schedule of five small college junior varsity teams and one varsity contingent from Lake Forest. The club has been in existence and playing its pick-up schedule since 1956 with plenty of that "old college try" and "23 skidoo" spirit. But this spring the members finally tired of getting knocked around and no one caring so they organized a petition drive and got 1300 signatures as reinforcement for their plea to the trustees to become a varsity sport. The board responded but few on the Windy City campus will likely care about the team this fall any more than they did 'last.
