Braves go wild, lose 6-0

Monday through Friday, 10:00 to 3:00

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - Woodie Fryman
hurled a five-hitter and tagged
the first home run of his career
as the Philadelphia Phillies de-
feated the Atlanta Braves 6-0
last night..
The victory evened Fryman's
record at 9-9. His victim was Phil
Niekro, 16-10, who contributed to
his own defeat with a rash of run-
scoring wild pitches.i
Philadelphia scored in the sec-
;nd without getting a hit. Larry
Hisle walked, moved to third
when Niekro threw wildly to first
on a pickoff attempt and scored
on the first of four wild pitches
by Niekro.
Singles by Fryman, Cookie Ro-
jas and Deron Johnson, three
more wild pitches by Niekro and
two passed balls resulted in three
more Phillie runs in the fifth.
Fryman's solo blast in the sixth
and Richie Allen's 25th homer of
the season in the seventh, also
with the bases empty, came offi
reliever George Stone. '
Fryman never permitted Atlan-
ta to get a runner past second. ;

But Held momentarily held the
ball giving Murcer a chance to
speed home.

_ IGibbs also singled home the
Yankees' first run in the second
with a walk and raced to third on inning. Jerry Kenney singled and
Bob Bailey's double. Then Cline stole second and then scored on
delivered a one-out single, scoring Gibbs' shot to right.
Laboy and after Kevin Collins-
fouled out, Brand slugged his two-
run double, putting the Expos in
front. Griffith

other run on Ron Fairley's doublea
in the eighth.
The Reds had taken a 2-1 lead
in the fifth when they pickedupf .7

Griffith said he plans to fly to
Washington today to meet with
Martin and Allison, and. hold a
joint meeting with the involved
persons after tomorrow's game.
Allison said Boswell hit him
while he had his hands in his
pockets outside a Detroit bar. Mar-
tin said he went outside to see
what was going on, and was at-
tacked by Boswell. The manager
then knockedBoswell out with-f
several punches.I
Boswell said he doesn't recall
hitting Martin first and believes
several persons were holding him.
Witnesses have said otherwise.
Boswell, who received several
stitches for eye and head injuries,
has\not been with the club since
the incident.
"Maybe after this episode he
will do a lot of serious thinking,"
Griffits said about his hot-tem-
pered pitcher. "Maybe he has
found out that you don't use your
fists but your mind to get thingst
straightened out. I look for Bos-
well to become a much better
pitcher as a result."
Griffith withheld comment on
Martin's side of the story until "I
talk face to face to Martin in
Washington."

WANT A DATE?
Consider the Advantages -of Computa-Date!
Throughout America respectable unattached people ponder
over the problem of how to meet suitable people of the op-
posite sex. Match-making efforts of well meaning relatives,
friends and business associates often prove to be embarrass-
ing or unsatisfactory. For many single men and women the
idea of finding companionship in bars, at dances, at the
beach or other public places is highly distasteful . . . Indeed
such a meeting is hardly the ideal foundation for a mean-
ingful relationship.
