"I am not speaking about those responsible critics who reveal waste and inefficiency in our de- Tense establishment, who demand clear answers on procurement policies, who want to m a k e sure a new weapons system will truly add to our defense," he said. "On the contrary, you should be in the vanguard of that movement:" Nixon also questioned whether America can ever be left in peace if it does not actively assume the burden of keeping peace. The rest of the world, he said, would be living in terror if the American presence were swept from the scene. Chairman J. W. Fulbright of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee reacted angrily to the speech. He said its tone was om- inous and portions of it w e r e personally offensive. Fulbright accused the admin- istration of hindering a peace set- tlement by iefused to relinquish control of South Vietnam. subcommittee investigating the military budget and in an im- promptu news conference , in a senate corridor. He said he interpreted the Pre-1 sident as saying America will continue in its role as a sort of world policeman. Counseling officeset (Continued from Page 1) The ad hoc committee which drafted the office proporal met with the faculty committee a n d together set up a course evalua- tion proposal which was presented' to Cohen Tuesday. Eisner says Co- hen has not yet responded to the proposal. Eisner says that SEI's proposal for course evaluation is diff rent from the system in the literary college, of which he is highly crit- ical. He thinks the course eval- uation system in LSA is "entirely centered on the good-bad rela- tionship between student and in- structor." While he acknowledges the importance of such 'informa- tion, Eisner says, "There's m o r e to be considered." The SEI proposal provides for a "really descriptive instrument" that will provide more infprma- tion for the student 'and also pro- vide feedback for the instructors so they can improve .their courses and for the administration so it can review the overall curriculum. Eisner added he thought the faculty committee on quality would send a proposal for over- all review of the school to Cohen some time in Septembey. for drive Continued from Page 1) / ant's Union as demonstrated by the recent arrest of steering com- mittee member Janet Handy for soliciitng funds for the Tenants' Union. "This is due to the lack of citi- zen's control over police, which should be a civilian overseer along the lines of a democratically run citizens review board. The incident in 'vhich a Human Relations Commission member was hit by a policeman underscores the heed for structural change, not just actions against individual police- man. "If the Ann Arbor police do not apply the law inpartially in the future and do not prosecute as- saults against the Tenants' Union members, Tenants' Union mem- bers will be forced to defend them- selves." f Sell POT iny Daily C~lassif ieds ONE MAN EFFICIENCY, avail, private, near campus, neg. after 6. summer, 761-9326 U23' 1 GIRL NEEDED for 1g. 2Cman, own room.
