Monday through Friday, 12:30 to 2:30 P.M.

By ANDY MEADE
After a hitting lapse of five1
Innings the Michigan baseball
team finally unleashed their pow-
er and whipped the Chippewas
from Central Michigan 5-2.
For the first five innings Cen-j
tral's starting pitcher Dale Dun-
ham set down the Wolverines in
short order. After striking out the
first two men to face him in the
sixth, however, he ran into
trouble.
First, Elliot Maddox socked a
triple to right. Glen Redmond
wa's then awarded a ground rule
double and Doug Nelson dropped
a little pop-up into center for a
hit to knot the score at 2-2.
That finished Dunham and
Jim Barbeau came on in relief.
Jim Hosler, Wolverine first base-
man, greeted Barbeau by lacing
a single to left. Unfortunately for
the Chips, left fielder Steve Papes
let the ball skim under his glove,
allowing Nelson to score from
first, with the go-ahead run.
Finally, after seven men had
taken their cuts at the plate Bar-
beau retired the side by forcing;
Chuck Schmidt to ground out.
Jack Hurley received the win,
his third in Michigan's last five
games. He came in to relieve Steve
Evans in the sixth, who had
given up two runs, one a long
home run over the center field
fence in the sixth.'

NIGHT EDITOR:
FRED LABOUR,

Earlier in the game, Evans took
a vicious line drive in, the chest.
Though it didn't seem to -hurt
him at the time, the smash might
have th own him off balance a
bit.
The Wolverines added two more
runs in support of Hurley. Hur-
ley, himself, scored one in the
seventh on a wild pitch. In the
eighth, Schmidt banged a double
to knock in Andy Fisher from

first. Hurley hardly needed the
insurance, though, as he set down
the eleven men he faced in order.
The Michigan nine get back
into league play this weekend in
a pair of double headers against
Iowa and Minnesota. After split-
ting with Illinois last Saturday
the Wolverines have little chance
to take the title, but will be out
to try and spoil Minnesota's
chances.

shirts a gentle bleaching, and then add a special brightener for a really
white shirt,
