Ct Talks on the educated person, religion and extra-curricular ac- tivities highlighted Freshman Rendezvous camps last weekend. Two camp sessions were held at Detroit Recreational Camp at Brighton and two at the Univer- sity Fresh Air Camp. The first sessions, which ran from Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 11, were planned for stu- dents who had not attended the summer orientation.program. The second sessions were held Sunday through Tuesday for freshmen who had pre-registered during the summer. Each session opened with a speech on "Who is the Educated Person?" Profs. Robert Angell of the sociologydepartment, Wilbert McKeachie of the psychology de- partment, Marvin Felheim of the English department and literary college Associate Dean Jamts Rob- ertson each opened a session with a talk on this topic. Extra-curricular activities were' discussed by student panels com- posed of officers of the various campus organizations. A student- faculty panel evaluated the prob- lem "What Happens to Religion on Campus?" Tne camps are sponsored by the Office of Religious Affairs with the cooperation of several stu- dent organizations. Their purpose is to help new- students evaluate religious, aca- demic, and social values of cam- pus life.
