THE MICHIGAN DAILY U' Institutes Registration Of Vehiles * All motor bikes, motor scooters and motorcycles on campus must be registered with, the Office of Student Affairs beginning next semester, Assistant Dean of Men Mark G. Noffsinger announced yesterday. Owners of the vehicles must present evidence of insurance and pay a $2 per semester fee. Regis- tration will be handled in Rm. 3011, Student Activities Bldg. Because of the number of com- plaints of illegal parking, riding on city and University sidewalks and noise, ticketing of violators began last fall. After Feb. 13, any motorized cycle not registered or otherwise in violation will be ticketed, Noff- singer said. EXPANDED PROGRAM: To Improve WUS Collection _ By RALPH KAPLAN "A considerably expanded edu- cational program should cause a marked improvement in the suc- cess of the World University Serv- ice Drive on campus this year," David Summer, Grad., said yester- day. Sumner, who is co-chairman of the campus WUS drive with Rais Khan, Grad. (pending approval of Student Government Council, which did not meet this week), said that in the past, "WUS had suddenly appeared on the campus as a fund-raising drive without students being aware of either what WUS was or what it tries to do." Aids Universities WUS is an organization which collects money to aid universities throughout the world. This year WUS's fund-raising "bucket drive" will be held March 14-16. "In addition to the bucket drive, we might have an auction this year," Sumner (said. He noted that much of the blame for the limited success of last year's WUS drive was due to the bucket drive's meager sup- port since "most of the money raised last year came from the Panhellenic Association's Johnny Mathis concert." The WUS drive, which last year was sponsored by the Council of Student Religious Organizations, collected $2,800 on campus. A total of approximately $1 million was collected in the United States last year. SGC To Sponsor This year Student Government Council will sponsor the drive. The educational phase of the WUS drive will begin at registra- tion by having WUS booths in front of Waterman Gymnasium to disseminate information about the WUS drive. "There is also a possibility of movies of WUS projects being shown to inform the campus about the nature of WUS's work," Sum- ner said. Another possibility for WUS's educational program is seminars. These would be designed to broad- en the student's awareness of both international university problems and international problems in general. All of these projects would be held both before and after the bucket drive begins. "There is no reason why WUS's campus activities should be limited to a bucket drive," Sumner said. "I hope WUS will establish itself as a continuously active organiza- tion." "WUS is interested in aiding both the immediate and the long- range aims and needs of the world's universities," Sumner said. "We hope we will eventually have enough people to form a permanent student - faculty WUS committee on campus that will be independent of the Council," Sum- ner said. .
