report to be sent back to surgery in the tube.
The whole process takes less than five minutes.

STRAINING-The mounted specimen is dipped into a row of
glass Jars for straining. The colored cover slip is then attached
to a microscope slide, and the slide is taken to a microscope
room for diagnosis.

Ready for the New Semester?

SLICING-A technician cuts sections of the tissue which has been
imbedded in paraffin blocks. The sections are placed on a large glass
sheet for straining. Some of the paraffin blocks are set aside to be
kept in the basement storage racks.
