B&L VITAMINS and COSMETICS 213 NORTH MAIN Opposite Post Office Shotput Champ Shotputter Ray Locke won theI conference outdoor title last spring and will also return to defend in. that event. The others who will return as defending champions in their events are Steve Williams, outdoor high jump, and Ergas. Leps in the outdoor mile. Broadjumper Les Bird, won his. specialty in 1959 as a sophomore, but was hampered last spring by an injury an relinguished the title to Illinois' Paul Foreman. Cephas Versatile To these six add the name of Dick Cephas, who competes in the high jump, 440-yard dash, hurdles, broad jump and sprints, and eight promising sophomores, and noth- ing less than a conference con- tender po'ps out of the crystal ball. Notably absent, however, due to scholastic difficulties, will be Tony Seth, who last spring cap- tured the indoor 600-yard run.. "We'll be pretty close to as good as last year," remarks Canham. This is no little statement be- cause Canham's squad captured the Conference indoor title last "If we lose one or two key men because of injuries we'll be in bad shape," Canham commented, undoubtedly recalling what hap- pened in last spring's Big Teen outdoor championship meet. Last spring, after winning the indoor title, the Wolverines were rated favorites to also capture the outdoor crown. But in one of the heat races McRae pulled a leg muscle and was unable to compete in the hurdle finals. This, coupled with a recurring leg injury to Bird, who could only place third in the broad jump, was all Illinois needed to snatch the meet from Michigan. Three Team Battle This spring Canham sees a three team battle for both the indoor and outdoor crowns between Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana. He lists Iowa as an outside possibility. Michigan track filberts, however, will have to waft for quite some time before they will be able to see their team in action at home. The first regularly scheduled meet in Ann Arbor will be the Michigan AAU Relays, to be held February 11th in Yost Field House. The climax to the indoor sea- son will, of course, be the Con- ference meet, which this year is being held at Illinois on March third and fourth. $1.69 Kotex --48 regular $29 FEMININE NAPKINS Save 40c 85c REVLON NAIL POLISH SAVE 16c Li 69c LACTONA TOOTH BRUSHES Save 9c CIGARETTES YOU CAN'T GET A LOWER PRICE ANYWHERE X'KO&) A W~T of Tt'U6Sd ITKONO 1MhIQTHE OfRTi6 GADE, f kWotoMtQ{ rPCN ReS Ic~RST r&NC K-7 E;-rnLLE ANc' J cNM Bos I~Ri BECP\LYE StfE'A SO1flfV~t? i 1 KMOLO I CNAVET I1AV. wq .
