K6 . __.NNELL'_S By DAVE KIMBALL Neither cold. winds, a muddy field, nor the Falcons could stop Roger Netzer last night at Wines Field as he led Nu Sigma Nu to a 22-0 victory and its sixth straight Professional Fraternity I-M foot- - ball championship. Netzer, the Nu Sig. quarterback who had led his team to all four of its regular season victories with his passing and great defensive play, completed 11 of 23 passes for an unofficial total of 136 yards and two touchdowns. He scored the other Nu Sig TD himself on an end sweep. While Nu Sigma Nu was piling up the yardage through the air, the Falcons couldn't get a consis- tent drive going. A combination of Falcon mistakes and a .stingy NSN pass defense prevented the Fal- cons from penetrating any deeper than the Nu Sigma Nu 29 yard line. Quarterback Bob Gamble was consistently rushed by the Nu Sig forward line and ex-Wolver- ine end Bob Topp, Gamble's favor- ite target, was well covered by the medical fraternity's defensive backs. Show Superiority Although the Nu Sigs didn't score until just before the end of the first half, they showed their superiority from the start. After receiving the opening kickoff and returning it to their own 19, the Falcons were stopped coll. Netzer then took control and led his team from its own 39 to the Falcon eight in four plays, the big play coming on a 22-yard pass to Pete Colwell. However, the Nu Sig rally was stopped there when Jim DeVeries, intercepted a Netzer pass in the end zone to give the Falcons the ball. Sixty-Three Yards Nu Sigma Nu's first touchdown drive came late in the second period. After taking a Falcon punt on their own 17, NSN marched 63 yards. in eight plays, with Netzer hitting Dave Dingmnan with a bullet pass in the end zone for the score, the first against the Falcons this year. A Netzer to Dingman pass made it 8-0 just as the first half came to a close. Nu Sig scored the only two times it had the ball in the second half. A 47-yard drive following the kickoff netted them their second score, with Netzer hitting pay- dirt with an end sweep from one yard out, and then running for the two-point conversion himself. The next time NSN had the pigskin it went 35 yards in six plays for its third touchdown. The scoring play came on a pass- run play from Netzer to Colwell, who received the pass on the 15,1 outfaked his defenders, and dashed the remaining distance for the score. By JAN WINKELMAN Bvantage of a low pass from center Kelsey continued its domination on a punt attempt and steamrolled of both "A" and "B" residence hall . a ioaealTDCumnt football last night with a 12-0 victory over Hinsdale in the "A" championship tilt at Wines Field. This, marks the second straight year that Kelsey has taken both championships, as its "A" and B" teams have allowed their oppon- ents a meager 14 points while los- ing only one game in the past two seasons. . The 'A" team, which remained unscored upon this year, took ad- 1 Canadiens Edge Foresters In Independent. Playoff, 6-0' ing the drive was , fake run by quarterback Bruce Baldwin who passed to Bill Beck standing all alone in the end zone. Trick Pass Play Hinsdale almost retaliated in the second quarter following an inter- ception by Bob Schlecte. A trickI pass play from Schlecte to Ralph Plott to end John Beckworth brought Hinsdale to within 10 yards of paydirt, but Kelsey on the very next play stopped the drive: with a timely interception by Beck. . Kelsey appeared to be in trouble when Phil Wynn dropped a pass# from center on a fourth down punt situation early in the second half. But after a fine pass play from Hinsdale quarterback Bob Schlecte to Phil Townsend was nullified on a penalty, Wynn recti- fled his error by grabbing Schlecte's next pass to halt the Dales. Insurance was added to the flimsy 6-0 margin Kelsey held go- ing into the final quarter. Quar- terback Bruce Baldwin put on an aerial display typical of the many which brought Kelsey both the "A" and "B" titles for the past two years. He completed three passes in succession to Phil Wynn, FOR SALE, STAMPS for collectors. Foreign, U.S., packets, singles. Postage paid both,. ways. Pioneer, PO Box 11, AA.. The lone touchdown came in the opening 'minutes of the game after a long run by Nielson had moved the ball inside the For- esters' 20-yard line, on the Cana- diens' first play from scrimmage. After three plays failed to gain, Nielson hit Butts with a running' pass on the five and the Cana- dien end ran the rest of the way for the score. After that the game settled into a see-saw affair with both teams failing to capitalize on food scor- ing opportunities. Drive Haltedx Late in the second quarter. Billj Reed hit John Kubisiak with a$ long pass into Canadien territory, but an interception by Dave Cook halted the drive.
