THE MICHIGAN DAILi Girl Choirs Face WA24- Elimination Eliminations for Lantern Night, annual women's singing competi- tion sponsored by the Women's Athletic Association, will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Hill Aud. Twelve groups representing housing units will be selected to participate in the Lantern Night competition Nov. 7. A separate posture contest will be judged at the eliminations tomorrow night, for which first, second and third place awards will be given. Winners of the posture contest will be announced at Lantern Night, although the win- ning group does not have to be among the 12 finalists in the sing- ing contest. Students Plan International Week Panel' As a special contribution to International Week, the African Students Union has arranged a panel discussion on Africa tonight at 8 p.m. in the Multi-purpose room of the Under-graduate Li- brary. The African speakers will rep- resent various geographic regions in Africa. Each speaker will talk for a few minutes on any subject of interest concerning the region he is from.' Prof. Haugh of the English de- partment, the faculty advisor to the African Students Union this year, will be the moderator. The 'discussion is open to the public. There will also be a panel dis- cussion on the Cuban situation at 8 p.m. this Sunday at the New- man Club. NSA Considers Libel Action The United States National Student Association is considering libel action in the aftermath of last week's decision by the Uni- versity of Colorado student com- mission to disaffiliate with NSA, the Colorado Daily reported last week. Robert Walters, administrative assistant to NSA, confirmed last night from the organization's Philadelphia offices that libel action was still being considered, but added that NSA had offered the student who made the remark a chance to retract his statement. Richard Rettig, USNSA Presi- dent, said a statement by a com- mission member calling NSA "a breeding ground for pimps, trying to sell a harlotry of socialistic ideas," was the basis of the pos- sible libel action. "My initial impression," Rettig said, "is that the immaturity and vindictiveness of the delegates shows that there was never any intention by these people of act- ing in good faith." "In the entire discussion of NSA (by the Associated Students of the University of Colorado) there was no communication from the com- mission to the national office.
