Shortstop Bob Gilhooley's two- run single in the seventh won the first game for the Wolverines. CMU's Fletcher Miller had given the Chippewas a 3-2 lead with a, three-run homer in the third. Jim Lyijymen received credit' for the win, raising his season record to 2-0. Doug Vander Wall suffered the loss. Les Tanona's grand slam home run in the fourth inning was the big blow in the second game. The Wolverines got only seven other hits, but six CMU pitchers sur- rendered a total of 20 walks to make Michigan's job much easier. Joe Carr won his first game for Coach Moby Benedict, while Paul Peterson took the loss. Knudson, who lost the tourna- ment lead with a bogey at the 10th hole, carded a closing par 70 for 279 and second place, worth $11,500. Chi Chi Rodriguez, Gardner Dickinson Jr. and Tony Lema shared third place at even par 280.
