incident to the second round of
the National Clay Courts Tennis
Championships at the River Forest
Tennis Club yesterday.
The only upsets registered were
by a pair of relatively unknown
teen-agers who eliminated the na-
tion's 12th and 13th-ranked play-
ers.
The tournament was being play-
ed 'as a final tune-up for Ameri-
ca's Davis Cup squad which meets
Mexico in Dallas beginning July
31.
Fifth-ranked Hamilton Richard-
son came out of semi-retirement
after being asked to play on the
Davis Cup doubles team. Richard-
son responded with a first-round
