Monday through Friday, and Saturday 10:00 'til 11:30 A.M. -- PHILADELPHIA UP) - The American Football League said yesterday it will award a franchise to Philadelphia if assured the team can play in the proposed $25 million stadium. Okay Plan for County Team MADISON, Wis. (A)-A bill that would allow Milwaukee County to own and operate a professional baseball team was passed on a voice 'vote by the upper house of Wisconsin's legislature yesterday without debate and ,without dis- sent. The measure would permit the county to appropriate funds to buy a major league franchise and to establish a nonprofit corpora- tion to operate a team. "We want a team here starting in 1966," said Lamar Hunt, chair- man of the AFL's Expansion Com- mittee and president of the Kan- sas City Chiefs. "The AFL has definitely decided they want to move into Philadel- phia-and will 'come into Phila- delphia if they can receive assur- ances that the team can play in the new stadium," Hunt said. He said the AFL is willing to share the new stadium with the Philadelphia Eagles of the Na- tional Football League, and the AFL is convinced its team could pay a rental equal to that which the Eagles have agreed to pay. However, Jerry Wolman, owner of the Eagles, is suing the city for exclusive rights to use of the stadium in South Philadelphia for professional football. The stadium also would be the home of the Philadelphia Phillies' b a s e b a 11 team. By The Associated Press The streaking Cleveland Indians edged Minnesota 5-4 on Chuck Hinton's 10th inning home run last night for their 10th straight victory and moved within one-half game of the American League- leading Twins. Cleveland tied the score in the eighth on pinch hitter Duke Sims' first major league homer and Hinton's lead-off blow in the 10th vaulted the Indians into a second- place deadlock with the idle Chi- cago White Sox. Wayne Causey led a 12-hit attack with two singles and a double as the Kansas City Ath- letics trimmed the New York Yankees 6-2 in the opener of a twi-night doubleheader. But the Yankees came from behind and won the second game 4-2. Baltimore and Boston also di- vided a doubleheader, the Orioles rallying for three runs in the sixth for a 4-1 first-game victory and the Red Sox taking the night- cap 4-2 as Felix Mantilla cracked two run-scoring singles and Bob Tillman homered. The Los Angeles Angels blanked Detroit 3-0 behind George Brunet, who held the Tigers hitless through six innings and wound up with a three-hitter. Tommy Harper drove in two runs with a double and homer, powering Cincinnati to a 4-2 vic- tory over St. Louis that completed a sweep of their National League doubleheader. Pinch hitter Char- ley James' bases-loaded single in the ninth gave the Reds a 5-4 decision in the opener. Doug Clemns rapped a three- run homer in the third inning, pacing the Chicago Cubs to a 6-1 triumph over Milwaukee. Major League Standings Minneso Chicago Clevelan Baltimo Detroit Los Ang New.
