Monday through Friday, and Saturday 10:00 'til 11:30 A.M. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Milwaukee Braves of the National League offered a half-million dol- lars yesterday for relief from com- mitments that have kept the base- ball team in Milwaukee this sea- son. William Bartholomay, chairman of the board of the club, said he had offered to pay Milwaukee County $400,000 and Teams, Inc., an additional $100,000 immediate- ly so the team could be moved to Atlanta by mid-July. If the offer is accepted, the *Braves would become the Atlau.-' ta Braves after the All-Star game in Minneapolis-St. Paul, July 13. Arrangements even though Milwaukee is in sec- aond place only 3% games off the pace, fans in the Wisconsin city are not supporting the team. Bartholomay made his offer in a telegram to John L. Doyne, Mil- waukee County executive; Eugene Grobschmidt, chairman of the County Board of Commissioners; and Edmund B. Fitzgerald, Jr., president of Teams, Inc. Obstacles If the Milwaukee executives ac- cept the club's offer, there would still be two obstacles to be hurdled before the franchise could be mov- ed. The club is under a court order to retain in Milwaukee for the The club already has completed duration of this season. Few Fans Despite their winning perform- ance, the Braves have drawn only 125,000 fans this year. "It now appears that the Braves' home attendance for the entire 1965 season will be, at best, 400,- 000-some 1,200,000 below average, Bartholomay said. "This will result in a substan- tial operating loss for the Braves, and the total income to the Coun- ty of Milwaukee from the Braves during 1965 will be less than $90- 000," he said. Bartholomay and another Braves executive, Vice-President John Louis, were in Knoxville on what they described as a visit to pro- mote interest in the team once it moved to Atlanta. Bartholomay said the offer to the Milwaukee County officials would remain open until midnight, June 21. Major League Standings AMERICAN LEAGUE W L Pet.
