What could make for a more profitable vaca-, tion than coming back to school with a collection of the newest and smartest fashions for the; spring season? The point, however, of most in- terest to the pleasure-seeking col- lege student, is that New York un- doubtedly offers more forms of entertainment and relaxation for the college aged student than any other city in the country. The city is literally cluttered with restau- rants and night clubs which most willingly allow anyone eighteen or older to be served alcoholic; beverages. There are usually mini- mum cover charges at these places, but it's well worth while to pay just to get inside, to be part of the smoke-filled, exciting, and often rather unusual atmosphere these night spots present. To some they are a way of life, to the visi- tor, however, especially the col- lege student, they are a fascinat- ing insight into how the "other half" lives. A holiday vacation in New York can be the highlight of any year. And if one is a good penny-pinch- er, it doesn't have to be too ex- pensive. Flying usually runs about $68, but one can go by train or bus which would reduce the cost some- what. Also, organizations such as the Wolverine Club do make ar- rangements for the transportation would be considerably lower. Once there, room rates average about $10 per night. However, many ho- tels such as the Sheraton offer reduced rates for students which allows them to stay in excellent accommodations at very reason- able rates. There are many good travel agencies in this area who would be only too happy to help you plan a holiday vacation to New York which can be the exciting, fun experience we all can use after the trials and tribulations of a hard semester of work.
