B3 Readh Daily Classifieds GRADUATES-ME, IE, EE, MET E Employment opportunities are now available for graduating engineers at the U.S. Naval Ordnance Plant, Forest Prok, Illinois. This plant continues to be the only Navy, in-house torpedo production development facility, and is a leader in this field. We have recently added a new 2 million dollar Weapon Improvement Laboratory for the complete evaluation of torpedoes and components under simulated environments. With this laboratory, plus mathematical models, computer studies, and pilot-lot production of weapons, reliability of components and weapon systems are com- pletely evaluated. Based on results of these evaluations, changes in specifications and configuration are de- veloped to provide the reliability inherent in the design. Advanced torpedo production techniques are developed and proven in pilot-lot quantities, utilizing latest developments in production equipment and manufacturing processes. The many areas of engineering required to accomplish Anti-submarine warfare weapon evaluation and de- velopment include: * PRODUCTION CONTROL * INDUSTRIAL AND PROCESS RESEARCH * PROCESS CONTROL * SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT AND COMPUTER APPLiCATION * VALUE ENGINEERING * RELIABILITY ENGINEERING 0 QUALITY ASSURANCE * SPECIALIZED INSTRUMENTATION w METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING * ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING Our facility is closely associated with engineers and scientists of other government and commercial organizations engaged in torpedo development. In addition, scientists from local colleges and universities are under contract for consulting services. The Navy considers torpedo development as second only to the Polaris program. The high priority placed on development of improved torpedo weapons systems by the U.S. Navy, requires the services of large numbers of engineers and physicists. A considerable number of yong graduate engineers from accredited colleges and uni- versities are needed for the purpose of intensive on-the-job training, and potential growth in the organization. Applicants selected for employment will be enrolled in a formal Engineering Training Program designed to acquaint them with all phases of operations. This program will be an important step in their professional de- velopment and will insure that final placement in a specific field is commensurate with their capabilities and desires. The basic starting salary for engineers upon graduation with a BS degree, from an accredited college or uni- versity, is $6,207 per year. For those engineers graduating in the top quarter of their class, or who have a "B" average, the starting salary is $7,304 per year. Upon graduation with an MS degree, the starting salaries are $7,304 and $7,987 per year. All benefits of Career Civil Service are included. Full consideration will be given to all applicants without regard to race, creed, color or national origin. WE WILL BE INTERVIEWING GRADUATING ENGINEERS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN ON NO- VEMBER 23, 1965. YOU ARE INVITED TO VISIT US DURING YOUR CHRISTMAS OR SPRING VACATION FOR A TOUR OF OUR SAII TITiC.
