R. & D., Des. School Time is OLYMPIA TIME Daily Libels' Embody Good Guy Tradition Rember Hoot Gibson, Ken Maynard, Johnny Mack Brown, and the Cisco Kid They were good guys; they wore white hats. You knew they'd get their man, win the girl, and love their mamas. They were dependable, and when they sauntered into a saloon you were sure they'd order milk. Oh, for the simple life, the black and white of existence. But now the poor college student with an inquiring mind is buffeted from one pastel shade of evil to another. Is there ever anything clearcut in the smeared up mess of a world foisted upon us? Yes, my friends. Yes. In the misty haze of dreary grays ther is one splendidly obvious black and white-the Daily-Union football game. Only in this one contest do alabaster purity and grubby filth square off in head to head engagement. The prize is an airloom treas- ured more than the Old Oaken Bucket, Little Brown Jug, and Solid Silver Toothpick combined-The Little Brown Trashbasket. One can only guess how many syllables have been shed for this undistinguished looking garbage can. Thanks to foul fate the trophy fell into Union hands last year. On a crucial fourth and 47 situation, my beret fell over my eyes as I released a long bomb. Lacking vision my pass went slightly awry. I threw the ball toward the Daily goal line. This season things will be different. The Daily Libels have been practicing diligently since last year's humiliation. The emphasis has been on anti-fumble drills. "The key to winning touch football is eliminating fumbles," says the Libel assistant coach Chuck (Pass the Buck) Vetzner with characteristic astuteness. Another assistant coach, Jim (Go Out on a Limb) Tindall, made this insightful statement to the press, "We expect to try a lot of wide sweeps around end: we've got a strong left wing and some great blockers." Daily Press Agent Gil (Bitter Pill) Samberg noted for his tact, had this comment about the game: "My informants say the phi- losophy colloquium put the Libels eight point favorites, but Geology's got us down by four, and the J-School's even betting their typewriters on the Union." Daily Literary Critic Jim (Horn Rim) LaSovage had one final word about today's monumental struggle. "It could make 'Little Red Riding Hood' look like child's play." A Honda is a slim 24'Yr at the widest point. This narrows down the hunt for a parking space considerably. You can slide into almost any shady spot. Like just outside of English Lit. Hondas fit into slim budgets too. Prices start about $215*. Gas goes farther, up to 200 mpg on some models. And cutting your wheels in half does just about the same thing for insurance costs. Or more. This is the sporty Super 90 with its distinguishedT-bone frame. Tops 60 mph. Just one of the 15 Honda models that make other campus transportation strictly for the birds.
