Under the direction of Sixten Ehrling and in cooperation with an imposing array of the world's greatest artists, the or- chestra looks forward to a most successful season. Among the fine soloists who will be heard are David Oistrakh, Ru- dolf Firkusny, Mary Costa, Isaac Stern and Van Cliburn. Conduc- tor-Emeritus Paul Paray, Asso- ciate Conductor Valter Poole and Andre Kostelanetz will appear throughout the season as guest conductors. In addition to their regular con- cert season the Symphony will present a series of four children's concerts beginning in December, highlighted by such diverse favor- ites as "Hansel and Gretel," Stra- vinsky's "Firebird" and Quincy Porter's "The Worried Drummer." The symphony will also inaug- urate a series of four open re- hearsals during their regular win- ter season. The first of these will be October 6 at 2 p.m. Jorge Bolet, internationally acclaimed Cuban- American pianist, will rehearse with Ehrling and the orchestra for the October 7-9 concerts during which he will play selections by Nielsen, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, and Weinberger.
