ball, the Minnesota Twins clinched
a tie for the American league pen-
nant, Sandy Koufax broke Bob
Feller's season strike-out mark,
Willie Mays tied a National League
home run record, and 60-year-old
Satchel Paige starred in his major
league comeback with the Kansas
City A's.
The Twins, who hadn't won a
game since last Sunday, swept a
doubleheader from Washington
5-0 and 5-3, reducing their magic
number to one game. One more

South's kick, a school record,
put new life in Arkansas' stagger-
