Last spring the executive secretary of Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity visited the Michigan campus and met with a small group of men who were to become the core of a new chapter. The pledges that we, the newly founded core, initiate during the next year will be the real nucleus of Chi Chapter, giving them the rare opportunity to create a fraternity which is not handicapped by archaic traditions and practices. km We are organizing a constructive pledge program which benefits the pledge, the ac- tives and the entire chapter, rather than wasting any time wih hazing and unnecessary work duties. We protest the subtle discrimination used by other fraternities, and are determined to judge a man by his own personal merits, not by some preconceived notion of what a " rater- nity man should or should not be. TEPs is a continuously expanding national and international fraternity with over 60 4 active chapters throughout the United States and Canada. The national has pledged our group tremendous financial assistance to bring TEPs back to the Michigan campus, and will send several of its top executives here during the next two months. The National also is presently negotiating to secure a house as soon as possible T he current lack of a house is not handicapping our social and athletic calendars in any way.W e have activities planned throughout the entire fall semester which includes joint 4. parties with other fraternities, TGs with sororities, parties with our brother chapter at Wayne State University in Detroit, and possible trips to other Big Ten chapters for away football games. As you examine other fraternities, think of what each one has to offer you, as well as 4 what it needs from you, in its future. TEPs offers every pledge the opportunity to assume leadership and responsibility almost immediately. TEPs needs men with new ideas not bound to the traditions which no longer have a place at Michigan. 4 There is a lot more to tell you about Tau Epsilon Phi. Why not stop in to see us, talk to us about T EPs, and let us answer any questions you may have about TEPs or fraternities in general. We are rushing from room 3D in the Michigan Union. Fraternally yours,
