' are 0o stru dare to win! o1)homrore speed lrelhant Billy Taylor shows his heels to the once-mighty Ohio State Buckeyes. After starter Glenn Doughty was injur ed in the ichigan State name, Taylor sparked the Wolverine offense to five straight wins, often electrifying the crowds with ling runs f"oni :scrimmage. The Wolverine defensive unit, one of the stingiest in the Big Ten, overwhelms Vander- bilt fullback Allan Spear. Featuring Henry "the Great Pumpkin" Hill at middle guard, the Michigan defense allowed a mere 12 points per game. The unbiquitous Maize-and-Blue defenders engulf MSU halfback Don highsmith, who ran for 129 yards against Michigan in leading the Spartans to a 23-12 decision. It was the Wolverines' sole loss in the conference this year. Junior Quarterback Don Moorhead, who played in Dennis Brown's shadow last season, came into his own in the 1969 campaign. With total offense figures of 1699 yards, Aloorhead rate s one of the most productive quarter- backs in Wolverine history. Above, he moves back into the pocket to throw, protected by Garvie "Iron Lan" Craw. Craw, who has never lost an inch as a ball carrier, scored 13 touchdovwns this year, to lead the team in scoring. "We are going to the Rose Bo (is Big Ten co-champions, and don't you forget jit!" Glenn Doughty, another sophomore speedster, opened the season like gangbusters, rambling for 531 yards in the first five games. Moving behind the solid interference of the likes of guard Frank Titus, Doughty seemed headed for a record-breaking season as a ball-carrier, until he was sidelined with an ankle injury midway through the campaign. He came back late in the year, however, and will be ready for USC and the Rose Bowl. Photora1ps and captions by Thomas R Cp7 -ead Coac~ihBo Sclh nibccliler RISC ._ * ; r>. ..,
