Page Six THE MICHIGAN DAILY Friday, October 10, 1969 Pr~ ge Six THE MICHIGAN DAILY niversity enrollment icreases to 38,328 DAILY OFFICIAL BULLETIN University enrollment has in- creased to 38,328 students this fall, a gain of 307 over last year. The largwst increase came at Flint College. where enrollment rose to 1501 students, an increase of 228. In Ann Arbor, enrollment stands at 32,003, about 50 more than one year ago. Enrollment at Dearborn Campus is about t h e same as last fall - 822 students are registered this year compared to 809 last year. Major enrollment shifts on the Ann Arbor campus were recorded in the engineering, natural r e - sources, architecture and design and dentistry schools. Engineering enrollment drop- ped by 133 students, to a total of 4357. Part of the drop was a result 'of the college's shifting of some continuing education pro- grams out of the fall trimestel' to the summer term. Natural resources enrollmenlit rose 63, up to 505 students. Ar- chitectura and design recorded an increase of 77, for a total of 897, and dentistry enrollment rose by 52 students, to 615. The literary college recorded a drop of 96 students, but this was dlue to the creation of the new library science school from a former literary college depart- inent. Library science has an en- rollment of 470 students who last tear would have been part of the lit erary college. Thus, the actual enrollment in the remaining departments of LSA is 375 more than a year ago, for a total of 16,081. The LSA figures include both undergraduate students and stu- dents who are enrolled in the ,raduate school who study under LSA professors. The graduate school total this Fear is 7942 students, who are also counted in the totals of LSA and several other schools. This figure is 395 under last year's, but the drop also is attributable in part to the opening of the library science school. Here are the current figures, and shifts from last year, for the other colleges and schools: Business Administration, down 20 to 1052: Education, up 31 to 3376: Law, down 33 to 1054; Medi- cine up 23 to 1822; Music, down 16 to 859: Nursing, up 15 to 838; Pharmacy, unchanged at 257: Public Health, up five to 434, and Social Work, down 44 to 697-.
