200-Mile Road Race -Sanctioned
By SCCA-World's Top International
Drivers Special Group -7 Sports-
Racing Cars $60,000 Purse
Midnight oil will burn brightly in shops throughout the U.S. and
Canada as North American and European race drivers prepare their
powerful machines for the 200-mile Can-Am competition on Michigan
International Speedway's tricky 3V3-mile grand prix circuit. They'll
be after a share of the $60,000 purse, highest of the eleven event
series, September 28th.
Stirling Moss, British racing great now serving as a consultant to
the Can-Am, said North American competitors are really serious
this year about ending the three-season domination of the Can-Am
by European drivers. He also predicted U.S. and Canadian teams
will be spending more money and much more time preparing their
cars for Can-Am events. The series brings together many of the
world's finest drivers on the best road racing courses in North America,
competing in low-slung fendered sports-racing cars powered by
American V-8 engines of unlimited size and horsepower. These
machines are the most powerful and fastest road racers being built
anywhere.

ning counter-clockwise, the sleek, fast
Group 7 cars, with their unlimited engines
and no-holds-barred chassis designs, will
