Wilson, 15-9, pitched his way out of two jams with key strike- outs. Kaline drove in a run in the first with a sacrifice fly after Dick McAuliffe led off with a walk and Don Wert doubled. Ka- line's 19th home run came in the third off rookie Fred Klages, 0-2. The Tigers added two runs off relief pither John Buzhardt in the sixth. Norm Cash's double, a walk, a wild pitch and pinch hit- ter Lenny Green's sacrifice fly brought in one run. Two Astro errors led to five un- earned runs for the Reds in the third and Nolan breezed to his ninth victory in 14 decisions. The rookie right-hander did not allow a hit until the sixt inning. Lonborg, who has lost five, flew to Kansas City earlier in the evening from Atlanta where he is serving a two-week stint with the Army Reserves. .* *' * . Tribe Scalps Birds BALTIMORE - Vic Davalillo capped a four-run fifth inning burst with a two-run homer and Sam McDowell and Sonny Siebert made the runs stand up, pacing Cleveland to a 4-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. McDowell's second hit, an RBI single, sparked the rally. Oriole relief pitcher Eddie Watt ruined McDowell's shutout with a homer in the eighth. A run scoring single by Frank Robinson followed a 37-minute rain delay in tht eighth and brought in Sei- bert, who preserved McDowell's 10th victory in 19 decisions. Baltimore got its final run in the ninth on Paul Blair's leadoff triple and Dave Johnson's sacri- fice fly. Cards 3, L.A. 2 ST. LOUIS -- Wes Parker's throwing error enabled Mike Shannon to score the winning run as the St. Louis Cardinals pushed across a run in the 11th inning and defeated Los Angeles 3-2. Shannon had opened the 11th with a double and after Roger Maris was purposely walked, Phil Gagliano also walked, loading the bases. Ed Bressoud popped to Parker, the Dodgers' first baseman and when Parker's throw to the plate bounced wide, Shannon raced home. * l e Late Games In the two other AL games, Washington and Minnesota were tied 7-7 after 12 innings while California led the New York Yan- kees 6-0 after six innings.
