Mr. and Mrs. David Grabois of New York City announce the en- gagement of their daughter Ellen to Mr. A. Paul Victor also of New P trofit Made By Musket For the first time in the past several years, Musket made a profit, Bruce McRitchie, '59, chair- man, announced at the Union Board of Directors meeting Thurs- day night. He felt Musket did as well as it did because it was a sellout, rent was cheaper at Lydia Mendelssohn since it is a smaller theatre, stu- dents were used rather than union- ized help and Musket is finally being recognized by the campus as worthwhile entertainment. Profit made from the World's Fair, sponsored by the Union and the International Students Asso- ciation will go to the ISA for stu- dent projects, another report said. A finance statement on Michi- gras 1958 was also given at the meeting. Approximately $8,000 was made and it is being divided up among: the Fresh Air Camp, the Ann Arbor Retarded Children's Fund to outfit a special playroom and the University's Cancer Re- search Fund. Center Plans Student Trips For Holidays The International Center has planned several trips for foreign students during the Christmas holidays, Approximately 30 persons are travelling to Puerto Rico for pe- riods of a week and two weeks. As guests of University alumni there, the visitors will tour all the famous spots in the city of San Juan. On Dec. 30 they will leave for San German city on the other end of the island where they will live in student residence halls. Special student rates are part of the Washington, D.C.-New York trip sponsored by the Center. A bus trip through each city will be held and stops will be made at all the famous historical points. An International Winter Week- end with students from Michigan State University and Wayne State University will be held Dec. 26-28. The weekend at Greenbush Inn in Greenbush, Michigan will in- clude tobogganing, dancing, sleigh rides, skiing and skating. Reserva- tions for~the weekend can be made in Rm. 18 of the International Center. The Christmas Adventure in World Understanding program will have headquarters in East Lan- sing. The program, from Dec. 20 through Jan. 1, will include visits to industrial and agricultural points of interest, visits with American students and families, and a visit to a television station. Originally, the dormitory was a unit operating separately, but ad- joining Mosher Hall on 'the Hill'.I To make possible badly needed! plumbing adjustments, Jordan' Hall moved this September en masse to Markley Hall where it occupies two of the hall's nine houses. Last May when the women in Jordan were told of the repairing plan and of their exodus to Mark- ley, Jane Murphy, '59, president of Jordan remarked, "We will try not to become immersed into the affairs of Markley, but will exist as a separate entity in the Hall." This was said because Jordan would only be living in Markley for one school year, until the re- pairs were finished. Residents, however, have not maintained this, attitude now that they are actually living in Markley. Since it is to be our home for a year, we now believe we should learn to live and work with everyone here." In spite of their cooperation, many who lived in Jordan last year do not feel at home in Markley. Ingrid Hendricks, '60, said, "Markley is too big, and there are I just too many people on one long corridor to get to know them all." Deanna Von Arb, '61, added, "This dorm has none of that old 'ivy' atmosphere. Have you ever' tried staring at concrete blocksl day after day?" Markley Not as Close Margaret Hoshel, '61, said that "A small dorm is a friendlier dorm. This is so much like a hotel that we seem to have lost all our 'closeness'." / Many like Markley, though. Joan' Feingold, '61, commented, "I would not like to go back, because the old Jordan is so depressing and so old and dark. This place is cheerful and well-lighted, and the snacl bar is great." Most of the new freshmen do not want to leave Markley. Nancy, Greenglass, '62, remarked, "the rooms here are modern, and bright with new furniture. The rooms in Jordan look dingy."
