Giants Defeat Lions;
In Title Contention

CLASSIFIED

I'

By AL SINAI
Two unusual plays enabled the
New York Giants to stay in con-
tention for the Eastern Division
title as they beat the Detroit Lions,
Sunday, 19-17. -
One was a play the Lions have
used before, namely, a fake punt
and run by Yale Lary on fourth
down with 21 yards to go from the
Lions 43. The Lions were leading
17-12 at the time.
