28, 19TTTE MICHIGAN DAILY _._ _ 1 __ Stanford Gets The Axe Four-long debate at a Stanford University Legislature meeting Thursday resulted in a decision: The Stanford Axe will be placed on permanent display if and when Stanford beats the University of California Nov. 22. Much of the credit for finally getting the Axe out where it can be seen, the Stanford Daily reports, goes to the Axe Society, custodians of the famed trophy. Credit also goes to the Axe Society president, "who was the moving force in get- ting the facts on which the decision was made." Apparently, the Stanford Legislature was concerned with "WHERE and WHEN the Axe should be shown." The Axe was stolen two years ago, but it is now kept in a cellar case with a burglar alarm.
