ON THE IM SCENE: ,, Delts Edge Sigma Chi, 1-0 1 I-M Social Fraternity "A" play- offs got underway yesterday at Ferry Field with a full schedule of nine games. In a thrilling overtime contest, Delta Tau Delta defeated Sigma Chi, 1-0, in a first place playoff. On the last play of the overtime period, Delta Tau Delta's John Krause tossed a short five-yard pass over the center of the line to John Hoos for the victory. Alpha Tau Omega ran into, a pack of trouble in the presence of Lambda Chi Alpha who romped to a 20-0 win. Lambda Chi's Bill Guiness passed for all his team's points. -Dick Hansen caught Guiness's first touchdown toss, with Kerry Johnson taking the throw for the extra point. Lambda Chi's second touchdown was scored on a beauti- ful catch by Carl Walker of a 35 yd. pass, while Fred Mowry-caught a 20-yd. throw for the victor's final touchdown. Penalties Hurt In another first place playoff, Delta Upsilon had two touchdowns called back on penalties and then Cadets $ till In Top Spot NEW YORE (P)-Army retained its number one ranking in the Associated Press weekly football ratings on the strength of last Saturday's 35-6 win over Virginia. However, the Cadets top ranking faces a serious threat this weekend when they face rugged Eastern rival Pittsburgh. The Panthers possess a 3-1 record, losing only to Michigan State. Ohio State rated number one before the start of the season moved into the second slot by walloping Indiana, 49-8. The Buck- eyes also meet tough opposition this weekend1 as they battle a strong Wisconsin team which is smarting from its first loss, to Iowa. In third position is surprising Louisiana with a 5-0 record. The Tigers take on a upset-minded Florida team Saturday night. Texas, Auburn and Mississippi1 are in the fourth, fifth and sixth positions. All are top heavy favor- ites in their respective games with Baylor, Maryland and Arkansas. Seventh ranked Iowa takes on eighth ranked Northwestern in a Big Ten battle. In other games involving top teams ninth ranked Oklahoma meets Kansas State and tenth ranked Clemson faces South Carolina. Wisconsin and Michigan State dropped from the top ten as a re- sult of their losses last weekend. They appeared in the top twenty along with Purdue, upset victor over the Spartans. Wilse passed to Chucks Wilmont for Theta Chi's other touchdown. In other -second place playoffs, Phi Gamma Delta beat Zeta Beta Tau, 18-8, while Alpha Delta Phi defeated Alpha Epsilon Phi,-8-0. Jernigan Tosses Ron Jernigan of Phi Ganima Delta did all the passing in the Phi Gain win, as he tossed touch- down passes tq Phil Matthews, Don M6Neil, and Dick Peterson, while. Alpha Delta Phi's lone touch- down came on a pass -from Dick Majcher to Boyd Moilanen. Ron Keller and Tom Lynch in- tercepted stray passes thrown by Theta,'Delta-Chi to lead Trigon to a 12-0 win in a third place play- off contest.
