.a .aa au ATMn Vauy V 11111 .V £i i il.l ± Mrs. Laurence C. Piatt has been selected to fill the newly created post of executive secretary of the Fraternity Buyers Association, William Cross, Assistant Dean of Men in Charge of Fraternity Af- fairs, said yesterday. Cross attributed the necessity of the new position to the "tremen- dous growth" of the association He explained that the FBA is do- ing a quarter of a million dollars worth of, business this year and now has 60 members. Cross felt there was a-need for "professional attention so that it may continue to grow and develop to better serve the interests ofi its members."' Formerly Sorority Director Mrs. Piatt, who was formerly; the house director of Delta Gam- ma sorority, will work closely with Cross and Mrs. Lawrence Ham- berg, FBA purchasing agent. Mrs. Piatt will be concerned with de- veloping more and better services for the members of the associa- tion. Although the present student workers are doing well, Cross ex- plained, Mrs. Piatt could provide many extra services. For example, he continued, she, could assist the individual house stewards by help- ing hire new cooks and bus boys.- She could also check prices to in- sure that FBA functions as econ- omically as possible. She would give the organiza- tion more continuity, Cross added. The present administration of the three-year-old organization, is constantly turning over, he ex- plained, because students gradu- ate or switch to other activities. She would also insure that more accurate records are kept. To Take Minutes As secretary to the board of di- rectors and of the Stewards' Council she would take the min- utes, and help FBA run on a more business-like basis, Cross said. Mrs. Piatt has not made defi- nite plans on her programs as yet. "I'm still trying to learn about the organization," she said. She explained that she was not taking over any specific office in the association, but said that her position was to pick up many of the "loose ends." In general, she said she would handle complaints, help with menu planning, and assist the stewards in any way she could. She will also concentrate on the expansion of new items for the FBA to handle, she explained. The following men were ap- pointed to the city's various boards' and committees: Housing Board of Appeals: Fred L. Arnet, Jack E. Two weeks .ago Oxford Univer- sity's governing bodies approved a resolution making ,ussian and German optional alternatives to Latin and Greek.
