Four converted and four un- converted tries'swept Michigan to an easy 32-0 washout in their first Southwest Ontario Rugby Union (SWORU) encounter of the sea- son. Windsor, however, was a sub- stitute opponent and brought a makeshift team. They came at Michigan's request when London, the scheduled opponent, cancelled out, forfeiting the game by league rules. This contest was the first actual competition for several of the Michigan players. One possible try, for example, was discounted when Max Gail, new to the game, ran out of the endzone (like Am- erican football) rather than downing the ball. Tony Webster, another of those who has been playing just two weeks, was the only man to tally twice in the game, which stood 23- 0 at halftime. Bob Siegal and captain Andrew MacDonald topped their scores with conversion kicks, while Tom Fagen accounted for the other two. Special to The Daily TOLEDO - The Michigan Soc-I cer Club, aided by rookie goalie and sterling defensive play, white- washed the Toledo club 3-0 in their first regular-season game, Leo Klubesheidt, as Michigan dominated the entire game. The kickers return to action at home next weekend with a pair of contests at Wines Field, Cleveland State comes to Ann Tallies were even made from the scrum position. Paul Howard pushed across on a run late in the first half, and John Weeks edged# his way over in the second. Bob Siegal and JimCruickshank rounded out the Michigan scoring. Cruickshane began the second half by kicking a pass into the endzone and downing it himself. Meanwhile, the two other club teams weren't having such good luck at the University of Toronto. The first team went down 16- 3 and the second was blanked 18- 0, as Toronto's varsity teams part- icularly dominated the lineouts and possession of the ball. Fullback Collin Warbric a c - counted for the only Michigan tally away from home. Next weekend the ruggers have two away games, one Saturday against John Carrol, the other on Sunday in Sarnia.
