Tech 16 10 10-36 Bagnell, Michigan 7 13 12-32 At 14:03 of the third period Tech iced the cake as Michigan was again inept in their own zone. Barry Sawchuck, who was the op- portunist of the series, took a wild back-hand slap at a loose puck lying unguarded in front of the Michigan cage. As the groan was heard from an enthusiastrc sell-out crowd, the puck found an opening and ap- peared'behind an unprotected Karl Bagnell. THE GAME began with Tech getting a "gift" goal. Punch Car- tier lost the puck to Tech's Lyle Moffat who sent a pass to Saw- chuck parked at the Michigan doorstep, His shot slid through Bagnell's pads fora 1-0 lead. The goal was one of many instances where the Wolverines couldn't get the puck out of their own end. The Huskies forchecked well but poor passing by the Michigan defense was the key factor in Michigan Tech's many chances. Less than two minutes later Michigan tried the score on an- other unearned goal. Perrin tried to center a pass, but it hit Huskie defenseman John Grisdale and bounced into the net past a star- tled McRae. AT 6:08 IT was the few Michi- gan Tech partisans' turn to laugh as Dave .Perrin made a costly error. He skated in over the Tech line and dropped a pass sup- posedly for Brian Skinner. Skin- ner wasn't there and Moffat pick- ed up the loose puck to skate the length of the ice on a breakaway. With Skinner and Perrin in pur- suit, Moffat drilled a shot over Bagnell's right shoulder and Tech grabbed the lead again. Michigan knotted the score once again at 19:18 when Michel Jarry drilled a slap shot past McRae. The Wolverines opened the scor- ing in the second period as Gag- on took a long pass from Jarry and hit the netting from 15 feet. Tech scored twice in the second on two beautiful deflections. Herb Boxer changed the direction of Al McLeod's blue-line shot to tie the game, and Moffat turned in a shot by Doug Hinton at 16:14 to give the Huskies a 4-3 advantage. Tempers only flared at two oc- casions. Midway through the sec- ond period Tech's Wayne Pushiie took a shot which Bagnell caught. Going by, Pushie took a swipe at the Michigan goaltender. A small battle occurred with Sawchuck and Tom Marra but no damage was done. In the third period Mickey Shaw and Tech's Terry McKnight squared off but the of- ficial kept the game under con- trol. Join The Daily Sports Staff WCHA Standings Two-day CONFERENCE ON REPRESSION Teach-in Workshops JANUARY 31 and FEBRUARY 1 Repression is a way of life in America. A war is being waged against the Black Panther Party. Fred Hampton is dead; Bobby Seale is in jail, yet convicted of no crime. A woman leader of the Ann Arbor Black Berets was wounded by police in Chicago. The Chicago Conspiracy is on trial in a rigged court for breaking a law which even conservative constitutional lawyers reject. The state moves against the rights of citizens when those rights are used to question its author- ity. The government uses its authority at the expense of our right to demand change. The Conference on Repression has been organized to develop an understanding of repression, and to learn what we can do to end it.
