Delts Triumph in Frat-Dorm ClashI

Delta Tau Delta overpowered
Residential College 22-0 Sunday
in the first annual "Superbowl" of
intramural football.
Like the much-anticipated pro-
fessional Superbowl staged in
January, the local clash featured
the best teams from two leagues.
The Delts represented fraternity
"A" and Residential College repre-
sented residence* hall "A". Each
team had earned the right to play
in event by winning the champion-
ship in its league during regular
season play.
The Delts struck a demoralizing
blow to Residential College on the
second play of the contest when
Delts quarterback Phil Bayster
completed a pass to Dick Sander-
son good for 50 yards and a first
down on the Blue five yard line.
A penalty set the Delts back on

the 22 but seconds later Bayster
swept around left end for the first
score of the game.
The two point conversion at- 1
tempt was successful as the ubi-
quitous Bayster passed to Terry
Westbrook in the endzone.
The rest of the first half turned
into a vicious defensive battle with
neither team able to make much
headway. Residential College re-'
ceived several bad breaks that
hampered their attack in the sec-
ond quarter. On one occasion,
quarterback Daryl Snider passed to
Bob Black good for 45 years only
to see it nullified by a penalty.
In the third period the Delts
broke into the scoring column
agan on another Bayster to San-
derson effort from five yards out.
Bayster raced around right end
for the conversion.
Residential College tried a little
dipsy-doodle razzle-dazzle football;

in the fourth quarter in an at-
tempt to pull the game out. Bob
Yarmuth delighted the 25 freezing
fans with two of the rarest run-
ning exhibitions ever staged in
Ann Arbor. Yarmuth's style con-
sists of running from one sideline
to the other for five minutes,
evading scores of enemy tacklers,
and falling down before he makes
any forward progress.
Tim Conway tallied the final

Delt score in the last period on
still another Bayster aerial. The
conversion try failed leaving the
final score at 22-0.
As spunky as the Blue offense
was, they couldn't deter the fero-
cious, eltdefense led byAStu Ed-
wards, Westbrook, and Al Barc-r
zuk.
The Delts outweighed the all-
freshmen Residential College team
by a sizeable margin.
