Varied Program Of Sport Courses Is Offered Women Women students enrolled in the summer session are being offered a comprehensive program of physical activities by the physical education de- partment. The use of a swimming pool, a gymnasium, and an athletic field are included in the program as i also specialized instruction in var- ious sports. For the first time in the history of the University the Summer session women have the privilege of using the Union pool. This facility makes swimming more accessible. Miss Jessica Nixon and Miss Etr.uria Doster will conducttclasses at 9 and 10 every morning at the Union. Palmer field and its accessories offer ample room for every activity while Barbour Gymnasium is utilized for folk clogging and natural dancing. Miss Ruth Price of Columbia Univer- sity has charge of dancing and is plan- ning a course for advanced as well as eleinentary classes in natural danc- ing at 2 to 4 o'clock every day. A clogging class' at 1 o'clock Tuesday and Thursday is offered. Miss Ethel McCormack, head of the, physical education department is con- ducting a class in the fundamentals of golf. This class will be held at Palmer Field at 11 and 3 o'clock every day. When the class has sufficiently progressed the instruction will be promoted to the University golf links. Practical coaching and refereeing! ir, basketball form part of a course as well as experience in playing. Two teams are being organized for compe- tition during the summer. Basket ball will be conducted at 3 o'clock every day. Classes in hockey are being or- ganized to meet at 2 o'clock. Women will be instructed in archery by Mr. McDonald at 3 o'clock on Palmer Field and in tennis at 3 and 4 o'clock at the same place. Since all these courses are not yet full, the faculty members of this de- partment have expressed the desire that additional women will register and participate.
